Anthony DeJoseph, Psy.D.
Dr. DeJoseph is a licensed clinical psychologist who
is President of Associates in Behavioral Science. He is a graduate of the
Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and received his Doctorate of Psychology
degree in 1984. He began his 35 year career in behavioral health at the
Psychiatric Evaluation Unit of Yale New Haven Hospital in 1976 in an inpatient
diagnostic program for acute psychiatric illness. His internship at Chicago
Read Mental Health Center, Illinois's largest state operated inpatient mental
health center, afforded him an intensive introduction to his long evolved
experience and expertise in the treatment of persons with chronic and
persistent severe mental illness. In addition to well over three decades of
clinical experience, Dr. DeJoseph has also held a number of executive
appointments during his career as well; having formerly been CEO of Genesis
health systems of Lincolnwood Illinois, President and CEO of University
Hospital in Chicago and Vice President of Hospital Group of Illinois, where he
developed facilities for all levels of behavioral health treatment in Illinois
and neighboring states. Dr. DeJoseph has also developed, administered, managed
or clinically directed 13 hospital departments/divisions and programs in
psychiatry and chemical dependence in the Chicago and suburban areas since
1982. He has been an adjunct faculty member, teaching assessment at the
Illinois School of Professional Psychology, the institution from which he
graduated, has additionally taught psychology at the high school and college
level as well as being a guest lecturer and speaker at many institutions such
as The Northwestern University School of Medicine and University of Chicago
Medical Schools. He has held a number of appointments as President and Vice
President of several hospital Professional and Allied Health Staffs and has
been a member of the Committee on Healthcare Policy at the Chicago Chamber of
Commerce and the Greater Chicago planning Council for Mental Health of the
Department of Human Services; State of Illinois where he served with top state
officials and mental health. He is
additionally a member of the Mental Health Task Force of the Illinois Law
Enforcement Training and Standards Board for the state. He was part of a group at Martha Washington
Hospital that pioneered the first specialized treatment programs in Chicago for
cocaine addiction; he began several innovative outpatient programs for chemical
dependence in the early 80s, and originated the first specialized inpatient
programs for dual diagnosis in Chicago. He also held the position of Chief of
Assessment and Detoxification Services at that organization. He has been called
upon as a local expert in chemical dependence by such procedures organizations
as the Betty Ford Center and Fair Oaks Hospital. His organization also currently
manages psychiatric, detoxification units, partial hospitalization programs,
provides consultation and regulatory survey readiness to healthcare
organizations and Dr. DeJoseph consults to the administration of several
hospitals regarding behavioral healthcare. Dr. DeJoseph has also trained
extensively and consulted to many healthcare organizations in the area of
customer service, and is quite experienced in the Studer approach to service,
quality and leadership. He is Director of Psychological Services at Riveredge
hospital and recently served as Executive Director of Behavioral Health
Programs at MacNeal Hospital. Dr. DeJoseph practice Associates in Behavioral
Science, operates a large and extensive doctoral training program for interns
and practicum students in psychology as well as providing free or negligible
cost behavioral health treatment of poor and indigent patients with psychiatric
and psychological disorders. For the past 29 years, in addition to clinical
practice, Dr. DeJoseph's career has focused upon management administration and
leadership of behavioral health treatment systems within healthcare
organizations, and he has both personally lead these efforts and currently
consults to the leaders of hospital organizations regarding their behavioral
health services. In his newest area of endeavor, Dr. DeJoseph and Associates in
Behavioral Science have begun to deliver hospital leadership development, team
building and coaching services.

Betsy Nettleton, Psy.D., Clinical Director
Dr. Nettleton is the Clinical Director at ABS and oversees all clinical training and daily operations of the practice.
Dr. Nettleton earned her doctorate in clinical psychology in 2006 from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Since that time, she has worked in a variety of treatment settings. Most recently, she spent three years as a
supervising psychologist at Regional Mental Health Center. At RMHC, she provided both long-term and time-limited therapy and also facilitated a weekly anger management process group. In addition, she provided weekly supervision to both testing and
therapy interns and served on the psychology internship committee. Prior to her time at RMHC, she worked as
a counselor at Gateway Westside. At Gateway, a residential treatment/rehab facility, she offered both group and individual therapy to
dually-diagnosed individuals. She spent both her internship and post-doctoral fellowship years at Seacoast Mental Health Center, where she gained experience not only in providing therapy but also performing psychological testing. She has considerable experience with Rorschach testing. Dr. Nettleton also works
part-time in private practice.
Dr. Nettleton has researched and written
various didactic presentations, including Defense Mechanisms Relevant to
Substance Abusing Clients, Borderline Personality Disorders: Symptoms, Diagnosis,
Etiology, Treatment, Management of Transference/Countertransference
Reactions, Object Relations Approaches to Short-Term Therapy, and Rorschach
Scoring and Interpretation. In 2008, she
delivered a case presentation to the Humboldt Park MISA Consortium entitled Relational
Analysis and Substance Abuse Treatment, demonstrating the ways in which a relational/psychodynamic treatment perspective can enhance traditional AA methods for maintaining sobriety. In October 2011, she provided a 3-hour continuing education seminar (LCSW/LSW & LCPC/LPC) on Object Relations theory/therapy and how utilizing these ideas can help clients move forward from unhealthy relationships. In November 2011, she presented at Glen Oaks Hospital on building relationships with nursing home clients.

John Noto, Ph.D.
Currently works as the Director of Psychological Testing at Riveredge Hospital, a Supervising Psychologist with ABS, and is in independent practice at Behavioral Health Care Associates in Schaumburg.
Has hospital professional staff privileges at Riveredge Hospital, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, and Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Received Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1982 from the Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara California, an Advanced Study Degree in Group and Family Counseling from Northern Illinois University in 1977, an M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University in 1974, and a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point in 1970.
In the past was a college instructor at the College of DuPage and at DeVry University. Was the Chief Psychologist at Alexian Brothers medical Center from 1978 through 1995 where he was Director of the Psychology Internship Program, the Sexual Dysfunction Clinic, the Biofeedback Clinic, the Communicare Center, and the ADD Clinic. Was the clinical director for Talkline and Kidsline in Elk Grove Village in 1984.
Authored the study - Attachment Behavior of One-Year Olds and Maternal-Infant Bonding in 1983 and was a contributing author for the book, A.D.D.-A Lifetime Challenge.
