Anthony DeJoseph, Psy.D.-Practice President

Dr. DeJoseph is a licensed clinical psychologist who is President of Associates in Behavioral Science as well as President and CEO of Pro Health Management, Inc.   

Dr. DeJoseph is a graduate of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and received his Doctor of Psychology degree in 1984. He began his 29 year career in behavioral health at the Psychiatric Evaluation Unit of Yale New Haven Hospital in 1976 in an inpatient diagnostic program for severe and persistent psychiatric illness. His internship at
Chicago Read Mental Health Center, Illinois’ largest state-operated inpatient mental health center, afforded him an intensive introduction to his long experience and expertise in the treatment of persons with chronic and persistent severe mental illness. 
 

Dr. DeJoseph has held a number of executive appointments during his career:  former CEO of Genesis Health Systems of Lincolnwood,
Illinois through a joint venture with ABS, President and CEO of University Hospital in Chicago, and Vice President of Hospital Group Of Illinois. Dr. DeJoseph has developed, administered, managed or clinically directed eleven hospital departments/divisions and programs in psychiatry and chemical dependence in the Chicago and suburban area. 
 

He has been an adjunct faculty member teaching assessment at The Illinois School of Professional Psychology, has taught psychology at the high school and college level, and been a guest lecturer and speaker at many institutions such as The Northwestern University School of Medicine and University of Chicago Medical Schools. 
 

Dr. DeJoseph has held a number of appointments as President and Vice President of several hospital Professional and Allied Health Staffs, and has been a member of the Committee on Health Care Policy at the Chicago Chamber of Commerce and The Greater Chicago Planning Council for Mental Health of the Department of Human Services. He is a member of the Mental Health Task Force of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board for
Illinois.  
 

He was part of a group at
Martha Washington Hospital that pioneered the first specialized treatment program in Chicago for cocaine addiction, and began several innovative outpatient programs for chemical dependence in the early ‘80s, including the first specialized inpatient programs for dual diagnosis in Chicago. He has consulted at the Betty Ford Center and Fair Oaks Hospital. 
 

Associates in Behavioral Science currently manages psychiatric and detoxification units, partial hospitalization programs, and Dr. DeJoseph consults with the administration of several hospitals regarding behavioral health care. For the past twenty-three years, Dr. DeJoseph’s career has focused upon management, administration and leadership of behavioral treatment systems within healthcare organizations, and he has both personally led these efforts and consulted to the leaders of hospital organizations regarding their behavioral services.

Gary Howell, Psy.D.-Clinical Director

Dr. Howell is the Clinical Director at ABS and oversees all clinical training and daily operations of the practice.


Dr. Howell earned his doctorate in clinical psychology (2008) and master's in counseling (2004) psychology from the
Adler School of Professional Psychology.  He also completed the clinical hypnosis certificate program with an emphasis on hypnotic assessment and hypnotherapy techniques.


Dr. Howell completed his pre-doctoral internship with us last year (2006-2007).  In addition to being our clinical director, he is a member of the adjunct faculty at Truman College.  
Dr. Howell has extensive clinical training with the adult forensic population and diagnostic training with children, adolescents, and adults.  He taught two years at a private therapeutic day school (Pre-K-12 grade) for learning disabilities.  During his undergraduate training, Dr. Howell developed a practicum for an AIDS Service Organization (ARCOT) for students interested in providing outreach education, HIV testing, and HIV prevention services.  After his volunteer experience, he was employed as Case Manager II, Outreach Prevention Specialist, Volunteer Coordinator, and Project Coordinator/Manager for the Ryan White III Planning Grant he assisted the executive director in securing.  He also has experience providing psychological services to GLBTQ clients.

Dr. Howell
provides outpatient psychotherapy and psychological testing at ABS. 


John Noto, Ph.D.

Currently works as the Director of Psychological Testing at Riveredge Hospital, a Supervising Psychologist with ABS, and is in independent practice at Behavioral Health Care Associates in Schaumburg.

Has hospital professional staff privileges at Riveredge Hospital, Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, and Alexian Brothers Medical Center.

Received Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1982 from the Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara California, an Advanced Study Degree in Group and Family Counseling from Northern Illinois University in 1977, an M.S. degree in Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University in 1974, and a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point in 1970.   

In the past was a college instructor at the College of DuPage and at DeVry University.  Was the Chief Psychologist at Alexian Brothers medical Center from 1978 through 1995 where he was Director of the Psychology Internship Program, the Sexual Dysfunction Clinic, the Biofeedback Clinic, the Communicare Center, and the ADD Clinic.  Was the clinical director for Talkline and Kidsline in Elk Grove Village in 1984. 

Authored the study - Attachment Behavior of One-Year Olds and Maternal-Infant Bonding in 1983 and was a contributing author for the book, A.D.D.-A Lifetime Challenge.



Lloyd (Sam) Cunningham, M.Div., Psy.D.

Dr. Cunningham is a licensed clinical psychologist as well as an ordained Roman Catholic Priest.  Sam has worked and taught extensively in the United States and Latin America.  He is bilingual and works toward the integration of psychology and spirituality in his practice. 

For nine years he has been an advisor to AGLO Chicago (Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach). As a psychologist he specializes in  work with those who have been involved in sexual violence and has 10 years experience doing assessments, group and individual work in this field. 

In his private practice, The Arnold Center for Integrated Wellness, P.C., Dr. Cunningham works with those who are seeking spiritual direction, psychological assessments, individual psychotherapy, and/or marriage and family counseling in both English and Spanish.

Dr. Cunningham provides diagnostic testing in various hospital settings for Associates in Behavioral Science and is able to bill Medicare for psychological testing done at the ABS office.
