He is a graduate of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and received his Doctor of Psychology degree in 1984. He began his 49 year career in behavioral health at the Psychiatric Evaluation Unit of Yale New Haven Hospital in 1976, in an inpatient diagnostic program for acute psychiatric illness. His internship at Chicago Read Mental Health Center, Illinois’ largest state operated inpatient mental health center at the time, afforded him an intensive introduction to his long-evolved experience and expertise in the treatment of persons with chronic and persistent, severe mental illness. He has extensive experience with both adult and adolescent psychiatric populations. In addition to nearly five decades of clinical experience, Dr. DeJoseph has also held many executive appointments during his career as well; having formerly been CEO of Genesis Health Systems of Lincolnwood Illinois, President and CEO of University Hospital in Chicago and Vice President of Hospital Group of Illinois, where he developed facilities for all levels of behavioral health treatment in Illinois and neighboring states. Dr. DeJoseph has also developed, administered, managed or clinically directed 13 hospital departments/divisions and programs in psychiatry and chemical dependence in the Chicago and suburban areas since 1982.
